Logan Circle - Washington DC

Metro Access:  Logan Circle is convenient to Mount Vernon Square, McPherson Square, Dupont Circle, and Shaw-Howard University metro stops.  Regular buses run up and down 14th St. and across town on P St.

Interstate Access:  The Logan Circle area doesn’t have quick access to an interstate, but 14th St. and 9th St. both provide direct access to I-395.

Closest Attractions:  Logan Circle has a budding small-scale, very cutting edge gallery scene.  Logan Circle itself is an attraction with an imposing statue of Civil War General John Logan and a great selection of restored 19th century mansions.  Logan Circle is a quick walk away from Washington’s theater district and very close to the nightlife of Dupont Circle and U. St.

Restaurants:  Brand new upscale eateries jostle for space with charming pubs and funky take out joints in the Logan Circle area.  P St. between 14th and 15th Streets has recently become the center of culinary Logan Circle, with a new Whole Foods market, the upscale neuvo latino restaurant, Merkado, and the traditional charm of Mid-City Fish Market take out.  The Vegas Lounge, a long-time D.C. favorite for local soul and blues acts, now sits right between to ultra-modern new apartment complexes.

Dry Cleaning:  You’ll find plenty of dry cleaners and laundries along 14th St. and Rhode Island Avenue, and P. St. between 14th and 15th host the Whole Foods Market, a pharmacy, and Logan Hardware.

Gym:  There are no major gyms in the Logan Circle area, but all the major Washington fitness chains have locations in the very close by downtown area.  Results on U St. is a good option, and Crew Club on 14th St. caters to the gay community.

Neighborhood Description:  Logan Circle has dramatically transformed itself in the past ten years.  One of the most desirable locations in DC for young professionals, Logan Circle provides a good mix of character and convenience.  The Studio Theater is a cultural anchor, and HR57, one of DC’s premier jazz venues provides an intimate setting for local jam sessions.  A center of the gay community in DC, Logan Circle buzzes with urban energy.

Number of Homes:  Along 14th St., you’ll find nearly a dozen new and under-construction condominium buildings.  Along the side streets are grand Victorians and more modest typical D.C. row houses.  Many properties are still in need of work, and many have been updated, divided into separate units, and generally made more habitable for the young professionals who walk to work and call Logan Circle home.
