Interstate Access: From the 22301/Rosemont side, Del Ray is close to the I-495 Beltway, connecting at Telegraph Road, or through Old Town and connecting at Route 1. On the opposite side, Del Ray is close to I-395 at Glebe Road. The Del Ray location also provides quick access to Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway), another major commuter route into Crystal City and DC.
Closest Attractions: A stone's throw to Old Town Alexandria, Crystal City, and Pentagon City, Del Ray provides fast access to Washington DC's attractions as well. Closest to Del Ray is the Washington Masonic Temple, where you can learn about George Washington and the freemasons, and take the elevator to the top for monumental views of Alexandria and the Potomac River.
Restaurants: You’ll find an eclectic mix of restaurants in Del Ray. Mexican, Thai, French, and good old fashioned pizza, there are restaurants along Mount Vernon Avenue that will please every palate. R.T.’s consistently ranks high for Cajun, and the Evening Star Café provides updated American fare. Taqueria el Poblano specializes in slightly upmarket Mexican dishes, and there are a wide variety of Peruvian chicken rotisseries, Salvadoran eateries, and other international favorites.
Dry Cleaning: Mount Vernon Avenue, Del Ray’s main artery, has groceries, laundries, and all other conveniences.
Gym: None of the major fitness operators have branches directly in Del Ray, the local YMCA is just off Mount Vernon Avenue. Nearby in Old Town, Crystal City, and Pentagon City you’ll find Gold’s Gym and other fitness operators.
Neighborhood Description: Dating back to 1894, Del Ray was one of the area’s original planned communities.
