Gym: Bally’s, Sport and Health, Curves, and Gold’s all have nearby locations.
Neighborhood Description: Established in 1963, Crystal City grew quickly into a maze of glass office buildings and condominiums (prime real estate are the condos with direct views of the Washington Monument and Reagan National Airport). Considered cutting-edge at the time, modern tastes are prevailing, and Crystal City is redefining itself as a more pedestrian-friendly destination for modern urban living, with new green spaces and sidewalk cafes. Street life now dominates, but underground walkways still connect the major office buildings with the condominiums and hotels. Crystal City remains an incredibly convenient place to live and work, with immediate metro access and, for many, a very quick walk to work next door, in addition to easy access to the Reagan National Airport and The Pentagon. A pedestrian bridge provides a quick way to take advantage of the Mount Vernon Trail, which runs from Arlington, through Old Town Alexandria, all the way to George Washington’s residence (Mount Vernon) on the Potomac.
Number of Homes: Upscale high-rise condominiums are the housing option in Crystal City. Most date back to the 1960’s and have a unique retro charm. Newer town home and condo developments have sprouted up just south of Crystal City on Rte. 1. For professonals working in DC or Crystal City, and frequent travelers who commute up and down the east coast by way of Reagan National Airport (DCA), Crystal City offers the ultimate in convenience.
