Why Choose A GRI?
The Designation
Symbolizing Higher Learning in Real Estate
What is the Realtor Institute? GRI is a professional designation
which stands for Graduate, REALTOR® Institute. GRI is recognized
nationwide as the standard for real estate professionalism and knowledge.
Developed for members of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®
and offered through State REALTOR® Associations, the GRI program
includes 90 hours of coursework on various topics such as marketing
and servicing listed properties to real estate law.
GRI Education Focuses On…
Understanding Agency - Understanding Virginia's
law that governs brokerage relationships with buyers, sellers, landlords,
and tenants. Agency disclosure, property disclosure, and confidentiality.
Managing Risk - Understanding fair housing, equal
services, environmental concerns, state and federal regulations
(lead paint, property disclosure, anti-trust, ADA).
From Contract to Closing - Understanding communication
and organization strategies to prevent or overcome difficulties
in the transaction leading up to and beyond the closing table.
Residential Construction and Selling New Homes
- Understanding the special challenges involved while helping a
client or customer buy/build a new home. Including warranties, construction
techniques and materials, new home/construction financing, working
with building inspectors.
Tax & Investment Strategies for Real Estate
- Understanding capital gains, tax-free exchanges, and special techniques
necessary to be successful in buying/selling investment real estate.
Financing Alternatives - Understanding financing
options available for real estate transactions and provide you with
the knowledge you need to handle more difficult deals.
Why Choose A GRI?
In my opinion, the GRI designation signifies a commitment to education
and learning. Anyone can obtain a real estate license. However,
in addition to showing properties, it’s more important to
be prepared to deal with contract issues, understand local laws,
and communicate different strategies to clients. When you see the
GRI designation, know that your Realtor® went beyond the bare
minimums when it comes to education
