If you're in the Lorton VA area, be sure to kickstart your weekend early with a concert, and have your pick from a variety of food truck vendors at the Workhouse Art Center.  There will be a $10 parking fee, and food truck vendors will have a vast assortment of foods including pizza, rum cakes, bbq, ice cream, and other specialty desserts.  This event will begin at 5:30 PM, and the fireworks will begin around 9:00pm.

Do you live in Fairlington?  Then you won't have far to go to catch the annual Fairlington Village 4th of July parade.  This parade is open to the public, and is held in the Fairlington community at S. 31st and S. Abingdon Streets.

I'm sure that there's nothing like catching the spectacular show on the National Mall, but we had a great time when we went to Kings Dominion on the 4th of July two years ago.  It was an action packed day of swimming and water slides at the water park (now renamed Soak City), not to mention the yells and screams from my favorite roller coaster The Ricochet!  We even caught the best seat in the park while watching the fireworks show from The Americana.  That's my kind of day!

Have a safe and Happy 4th of July!
